Fiber Optic Splicing Technician
Splicing Technician is primarily responsible for fusion splicing, verification testing, troubleshooting and fiber optic cable repair. The position also involves maintaining the crew truck, stocking, cleaning and following all paperwork test requirements. Splicing technician is also responsible for maintaining a safe work environment by providing street cones, working signs and overseeing the safety of anyone operating in or around the job site locations. Lastly, a splicing technician must follow all customer requirements while working on any customer networks. Splicing Technician must be able to perform heavy physical labor, be able to discriminate between colors and must not be afraid of heights or confined spaces. A valid driver’s license is required. DOT physical and RMV driving record is also required. This is an outside position with exposure to all types of weather conditions. Extensive travel is required; may be away from home five days per week. Must have own vehicle. The hours are Monday-Friday, weekends and night work as needed. The Lineman position is responsible for building, repairing, and maintaining fiber optic cables both aerially and in underground conduit. The position also includes some inside plant installations. Other responsibilities include training entry level lineman, daily record keeping (fiber route details, slack and splice locations, materials used) and safety. Candidates must be able to perform heavy physical labor, be able to discriminate between colors and must not be afraid of heights or working in confined spaces. This position is predominately outside and will include exposure to all types of weather conditions. A valid CDL Class B driver’s license, DOT physical and RMV driving record is required. The Laborer position is responsible for the day to day manual labor needed to support the construction operations of Coastal Fiber, LLC. Working with civil crews will include shoveling, sweeping, spreading concrete and asphalt, assist in laying conduit and providing general support to the construction process. Working with line crews will include supporting the linemen by feeding cable, setting up street cones, pumping manholes, pulling cable, job site cleanup, warehouse work, and providing general support to the line construction process. Skills required: Must be at least 18 years of age, must be capable of heavy physical labor lifting up to 75 pounds, pulling cable, standing and kneeling throughout the day.
